Welcome to the Early Canadian Bottle Works, my name is
Darren Spindler, I am a bottle digger, collector and part-time researcher.
I started collecting bottles around 1994 after finding several 1940's to
1960's sodas along the many hiking trails that I often trekked. Since then
I have gained experience in locating sites and have found and added to my
collection some rare and early Canadian bottles.
I
have lived in Brampton, Ontario since 1971 and consider it my
hometown. It wasn't until I started finding old Brampton
bottles that it spiked my interest in the local business history that helped
shape a small town into the city of
452,000 plus people today. Although I still have a variety of
bottles and stoneware from my digs I have now focused my collection to
include any bottles & stoneware, old advertising,
postcards, illustrated billheads, photographs etc. from the many businesses
that operated in Brampton through the 1800's into the 1900's.
I enjoy sharing my
finds whether it be a bottle I dug on the weekend, a great find at a
auction, or some new information researched at the archives. Historical
research often gives you that same thrill as that first glimpse of a
bottle buried for over a century and it is a great way to pass the off
season. I am always looking to acquire any pieces from Brampton,
