Robert Perry Watson
started Watson Dairy back in 1922. In 1938 Watson went into partnership with
Robert Andrew Winton and the dairy became Watson & Winton Dairy. When
the partnership dissolved five years later in 1943, Robert Watson
changed the name back to Watson Dairy. Both Watson and Watson & Winton
Dairy used the phone number 14.
In 1949 Robert Watson died
leaving the business to his wife and son (Thomas). The dairy operations
were sold off on September 15, 1949 to Fred & May Laing of Rockwood and became Laing's Dairy. Robert Watson's wife and son
continued operating Watson's Dairy Bar on Mill Street.
My research shows that the dairy bar was still in operation in 1953.
